zahawiq-1

Zahawiq was a pretty easy dish to make. We ate it with a flat bread in the same way you’d eat chips in salsa. This is eaten throughout the Arabic world but called different names. It can be made with cheese, more cilantro or parsley but we made the traditional version.

zahawiqIngredients:

1 tomato
1 chili pepper
clove of garlic
little bit of cumin
cilantro
lemon juice
salt

Instructions:

Make this fresh. Cut the vegetables down before blending together. Another option would be to grind it down with a mortar and pestle.

This reminded me of salsa we would eat at home although maybe a little spicier. My mouth was on fire, in a good way. 🙂
