Resolution follow through: Day 5

psalm 5:11-12 new years resolution

Having a daily quiet time or reading through the Bible in a year is a pretty common resolution for those who consider these things important.

Often, it’s difficult to maintain this goal over the full year unless you are super disciplined or have some kind of structured plan or accountability to help along the way.

Well, the whole of December, New Years day and the next were a little out of the norm for us. I didn’t get around to really thinking about my resolution until after the big day of starting fresh. But of course I’d like to use the opportunity to improve myself. So today I started with the ‘read through the Bible in a year’ Bible. January 5th. It goes through the Old and New testaments from beginning to end with a little portion for each day. Plus Psalms and Proverbs.

The Psalm for today was 5. I admit it’s been awhile since I’ve read from the Psalms but it was so refreshing to come back again. These two verses stuck out to me as a reminder that we have a God that offers us protection. This fact should fill us with joy! We should sing his praises joyfully forever!

If you need something to bring you a little joy today, think on a God who brings His protection and shields us with love.
