This World Is Not Our Home

this world is not our home

What are we living for?

Sometimes, and really, almost all of the time I am thinking about my life here on earth. I get caught up in the day to day. In keeping on top of the laundry and the dishes and making the house tidy. I get caught up in my surroundings, in the trivial conversations that bug me, or the people who have done me wrong. I get caught up in not accomplishing enough each day, in building a future so my family will have security.

But I forget that this world is not our home! This is just a place holder until we get to the real deal in heaven. It’s about how we live our lives here and what we make a priority. What we consider to be so important that we spend our time and efforts on it, will determine how the whole rest of our existence will go. And with that in mind, shouldn’t we focus on not selfishly holding onto our security for only us? Shouldn’t we be sharing it with everyone else we meet to make sure that they can be there too?!

This video by Francis Chan really puts this into perspective and makes me re-evaluate how I’m spending my time, my energy, my thoughts and what is actually the most important thing I could be doing. I hope it doesn’t get lost in the shuffle/struggle of daily activity but becomes an active, conscious thought that is repeated and then evidently shown throughout my life.
