Vegetarian Momos from Nepal

Ingredients

Dough:

3/4 c. flour
Water – As needed
3/4 t. salt
2 t. oil

Stuffing:

1 c. finely chopped cabbage
1/4 c. finely chopped Carrot
1 T. finely chopped garlic
5  finely chopped sprigs spring onion
1/4 t. sugar
1/2 t. pepper (black)
1 t. soy sauce
1/2 t. salt
1 T. oil

  1. Mix together flour, salt and oil  in a bowl adding water to make dough. Cover and put to the side.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add garlic, spring onion. Stir of high. Add the veggies, and sugar and fry high for a minute.
  3. Add in salt, pepper, and soy sauce. Mix together.  Turn off and put to the side.
  4.  Roll the dough thin and use a lid around 3 inches across to cut into disc shapes. Roll again to make thinner. Put stuffing in the center.
  5. Fold together into a bag like shape.
  6. Steam it in a steamer for 5 minutes. We didn’t have a steam so we used, rolled up balls of tin foil in a pot of boiling water and placed the momos on a dish on top. It worked great!
