Blueberry Cobbler for a hot summer day

Blueberry Cobbler

From time to time I get the baking bug and just want to put something in the oven that smells delicious. And what could be better in these summer months than baking with locally grown fruits or berries? Voila! Blueberry cobbler; so warm, gooey and delicious!

This is best served warm and with a bit of hand whipped cream or ice cream on top. It hits the spot!

All you need for this blueberry cobbler is:

  • 1 stick of melted butter, 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of flour, 1 1/2 t. of baking powder, 1/2 t. of salt, 1 cup of milk, 2 cups of fresh blueberries.


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 x 13 baking dish. Whisk together the sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and milk in a medium sized bowl. Add in the melted butter and whisk again. Pour the batter into the baking dish. Spread the blueberries over the batter evenly.  Put in the oven for 50 minutes until hot and tasty.

This was so delicious, I made two within the week and took one to a family event!

As an extra benefit, this could almost be considered a healthy treat! Blueberries are high in nutrients, and are most importantly are known to be packed full of anti-oxidants. They are heart healthy and lower blood pressure. They improve brain functions including memory.
